Can it be true? A scientist has found a way to infuse donuts and other baked goods with caffeine, enough to equate to two cups of coffee! Does that mean a donut hole is worth one cup? And, a baker's dozen will keep loaded for a week? I love this world. MySA.com
One of New York's leading cultural institutions was about to undertake a costly study to find out which of its many exhibits was the most popular with visitors. Just before the consulting contract was signed, a committee member suddenly suggested asking the janitor where he had to mop most. -Marilyn Machlowitz
Seth Godin points us to the many positives surrounding the action of moving from incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs and the sheer lack of movement to do so. I contend that it is just that; lack of movement aka laziness that keeps us from doing it. We could argue that it is the initial investment of capital that yields us to movement but I say it is the initial investment of movement itself that yields us.
I mean it is hard work to change out a light bulb. You must first remember to purchase the new CF bulb, then you must unpack the bulb, remove old bulbs (if they are burning at the time this provides even more effort), and install the new. That is not to mention that if you are vertically challenged you must secure a ladder and or a chair which again requires movement. Furthermore, I don't know if you have had the unique opportunity of changing out a bulb in today's fancy light fixtures but it truly is a chore in and of itself. The decorative knobs that cover the nuts that hold the shade make it a double duty just to get to the bulb. I have found myself at times allowing two of three bulbs to burn out prior to attempting to replace.
All that being said, until we can ignite a "day of movement" for us laggards we will forever remain in the illumination of incandescents...
