...it didn’t make any sense when Sam Zell said it
— or the World Newspaper Association, or the Belgian newspaper group —
and it doesn’t make any now. Newspapers may be in trouble, but blaming

I have to say, I agree. When I read the remark Sam Zell made over a month ago to a crowd at Stanford I nearly fell out of my chair.
Do we ever think that it might be, "our fault" or "my fault?" It's always the proverbial; "them" or "they."
The following is the hottest thing on the Internet and on Fox News today. Lizzie Palmer who put this YouTube program together is 15 years old. There have been over 3,000,000 hits as of this morning. In case you missed it, here it is.
I read The Origin of Brands by Laura and Al Ries and I could not help but to be turned off by the brash predictions they make about many companies. It was not that they made the predictions but the words they chose to do it with. I recently moved and don't have the book at hand otherwise I would pick a quote to post here as an example.
That being said I agree with Seth on the success of the iphone and wish Laura and Al the best with their future predictions. And, couch them with a bit more, dare I say, professionalism.
I wonder if in some twisted way Rosie and Oprah saw AI as a way to draw ratings their respective shows, just like I see ranting about it as a way to draw traffic to my blog...hey, at least I am honest about it.
I'm sure American Idol's not shying away from the so called negative press they are receiving. I am sure it's part of the strategy to keep the buzz alive. AI knows that the average American loves a good dose of Shaudenfraude and I am certain Rosie and Oprah know that as well they just play to a different side. In essence it makes them no better or no worse than those who profit from it over at AI.
It's kinda reminds me of the two guys that created Team America thanking Sean Penn for slamming their movie. I don't remember their exact quote but it was something along the lines of; thank you for saving us millions in marketing dollars.
Rosie and Oprah I applaud you either way; for the Herculean humane effort or for the keen or calculated business insight.
