Organized Chaos

Found this story in the Portland Business Journal. In our search for the Best Damn Talent in the World we might want to include some questions about organization...or should we?

"A third of people lose significant amounts of time --- more than 15 minutes a day or nearly two hours every week -- hunting for lost papers, sorting through messy files and rebooking missed appointments. "

The Code of the American

The_culture_code The Culture Code: Author Clotaire Rapille suggests that the American Culture Code for work is WHO YOU ARE. He goes on to say "If work means "who we are," then it is perfectly understandable that we seek so much meaning in our jobs. If our jobs feel meaningless, then "who we are" is meaningless as well. If we feel inspired, if we believe that our jobs have genuine value to the company we work for (even if that "company" is ourselves) and that we are doing something worthwile in our work, that belif bolsters our sense of identity. This is perhaps the most fundamental reason why it is important for employers to keep their employees content and motivated.

"Offering a spin instructor for classes is one thing that helps create a greater sense of community," reports Holin Barber, southwestern regional marketing manager at Lincoln Property Co., Dallas. According to Barber, her company has put spin rooms into several new, upscale rental properties.

How many times have you seen this kind of service from an organization. Do you think it happens in our industry? I would speculate more often than we think. It's Classic, "That's not my Job" thinking.
